Want to sign up your child or children for group lessons with kids of similar age and skill level? We have all the bases covered at the Newington Tennis Center. There are 4 program sessions in the 2020-2021 season. It is okay for you to bring in your child once to see how he/she likes it and pay a one time drop-in fee. You can start your child at any time during the program session and your fee will be pro-rated and your child will be placed in the proper class for his/her skill level. Session III of our Junior Development Program for Season 2020/2021 begins on Monday 1/25/2021. Call in now to sign up as spots are limited and filling up fast.
JDP MEMBERSHIP $30.00
( JDP Membership entitles student to 1 hour of free Junior Open Court time during junior hours per week while the kid is enrolled in that session)
Ten and Under
Red Ball (5 to 10 years old)
- Focuses on development of tennis based skills using methods to encourage rallying with modified play for children in this age group.
- 60 minute class once a week
- Wednesdays 4:30-5:30 or 5:40-6:40 or Saturday 11:00-12:00
- One hour classes: 10 weeks/$300 9 weeks/$270 8 weeks/$240
Orange Ball (8-10 years old)
- Advances work on technique and begins focus on formative strategies for match play, typically for players which have completed the Red Ball program. Students develop stroke techniques and strategy for junior match play.
- One hour class, once a week.
- Wednesdays 4:30-5:30 and 5:40-6:40, Saturdays 11:00-12:00
- One hour Classes: 10 weeks/$300 9 weeks/$360 8 weeks/$320
Classes For 11-18 Year Olds
Challenger
- Class designed for beginners of an older age. Instructing strategies thus differ, but the fundamentals taught are similar. Technique is most important here…so kids who may have gotten a late start to tennis can quickly be able to play consistently and be able to rally with friends or opponents in a match. This class will now just use Yellow Balls.
- One hour class, once a week
- Mondays 4:30-5:30 Yellow Ball
- One hour: 10 weeks/$300 9 weeks/$270 8 weeks/$240
Green/Yellow Ball Classes
- This class will be similar to the Challenger class but will also use green balls in addition to “regular” yellow balls.
- One hour class, once a week.
- Monday 4:30-5:30, Wednesdays 4:30-5:30, Saturdays 11:00-12:00.
- One hour class: 10 weeks/$300 9 weeks/$270 8 weeks/$240.
- One and a half hour: 10 weeks/$400 9 weeks/$360 8 weeks/$320.
High School Prospects (13-18 years old)
- Will exclusively use regular tennis balls. Designed for the kids preparing to join or are on a high-school team that want to improve their standing for the upcoming season.
- Sundays 3:00-4:00
- One hour: 10 weeks/$300 9 weeks/$270 8 weeks/$240.
- One and a half hour: 10 weeks/$400 9 weeks/$360 8 weeks/$320.
Elite
- Classes designed to get kids to play at a higher level and become more prepared for future match situations. Classes focus mainly on technique, strategy and match situations.
- 90 minute classes, once a week
- Tuesdays 4:45-6:15, Thursdays 4:45-6:15
- One and a half hour: 10 weeks/$400 9 weeks/$360 8 weeks/$320.
High Performance
- This is an advanced class for current or prospective USTA tournament players without a specific age requirement.
- Focuses on match play, strategy, concentration and fitness. Much more intensive in all facets, including technique.
- Tuesdays 4:30-6:30, Thursdays 4:15-6:15 and Saturdays 9:30-11
- One and a half hour: 10 weeks/$400 9 weeks/$360 8 weeks/$320.
- Two hour classes: 10 weeks/$500 9 weeks/$450 8 weeks $400.
There is a 10% discount when signing up for two classes. This applies for 2 children in one class or one child in 2 classes.
Make-Up Policy: Maximum of 2 per session. Make-ups must be taken within the session
