Running weekly from Monday thru Thursday at starting times from 7:30 to 8:30 (depending on the day), the After 8’s singles ladder pits men in a best of 3 set (3rd set is 10pt tiebreak) match against a competitor whom is ideally around the same skill level as them. If it is your first time playing, be sure to provide an accurate assessment of your game so we can match you appropriately with someone else.
Call in to find out more information and to sign up for a particular time and day that you would like to play. The further in advance the better so we have more time to co-ordinate a match. If you do not know much in advance that is fine..you can always call in to see if there is a match available or to put your name down as an alternate in the event that someone whom is scheduled to play cannot make it .
Skill levels range from 3.0 to 4.5 and all results are entered into a computerized ranking system weekly which is viewable online or at the tennis center in print. Both players are expected to bring a can of balls with the winner getting the second can (or you can buy a can from us). Like most of our programs, you do not have to be a member to participate. The price is $20 for a member and $25 for a non-member.
The 2014-2015 season culminated in a tournament based on the year-long rankings. As we do all year, we tried to match players up as fairly as possible in regards to the seeding and days of play for the tournament. There was a lot of great feedback and we hope to see the year-end tournament get even bigger in 2015-2016. The tournament champion’s name will be displayed at the entrance of the tennis center along the names of previous champions and we hope to continue this re-vitalized tradition well into the future.
In 2015-2016, we will be introducing more features to the After 8’s singles ladder. One new feature will be an updated list of rankings on this website. Another new feature will be an added system of incentives based on a variety of factors..such as matches played per week, matches played in total etc.
Can’t wait to see you on the courts!
